SuperELITE Model of the Week: Angelik Slade

Name: Angelik Slade

SL Rez Day: 02/09/2007

Nickname / Name you liked to be called: Angy

Interests / Activities: My favorite one is sharing time with my partner, most of the time it's traduced by trying to discover nice places with amazing builds, it's really something that attire us, is like a constant teasure hunt, and always really excited when we find it.

Another one is... shopping !! What a surprise he ! lol I loved to shop but now, since I start modelling, it becames an addiction ! Another kind of hunt is try to find some new designers, unknown but with real talent and that in any kind of creation, hairs, clothes, jewels etc.

Then there is building too ; before becoming a model, I build a lot and keep trying but not so easier now because I dedicate lot of my time to modelling to became better each day, work on practices, on castings, as in myself of course lolAnd finaly try to help others the best as I can, my last action was as being one of the models of the Clothing Fair Relay for Life and next is participating, as model too, in the Maseno Project II - Hopes of garnement. It's really a big proud to see that in a virtual world you can help real people, it's someting amazing, and I will try to do it everytime I will have the opportunity.

Your major influence(s) in Business: My partner, Phillip because he is really cruel with me you know... No, I am joking lolPhillip is the best partner you can dream of, he is always here when I feel bad or demotivate, he always had the right words to reconfort and support me, he gives me the strenght to raise up your head high and go ahead.

Your major influence(s) in Life: My family and my mother particularly who always impressed me with her courage to front all the bad moments of life. She is my inspiration day by day, I try to keep in mind all we have been passed through and that helps me to keep faith and hope in the future.

Best SL Experience(s): There are a lot, this one is the last one. Being a model in SL, something lot of us dreamed of in RL when we were young little girls (ahahahaha), that claims for lot of work, many efforts and time, it is a real personal investissement, but widely rewarded when you are on the podium, in front of public and your manager, and that we read their satisfaction in front of the performance which we offer them, it's really exciting.

Worst SL Experience(s): At this moment none, it can be unbelievable but true lol

Favorite SL Hangout(s): Tempura IslandWhy: One of the most beautiful sim I ever seen, everything there inspired the beauty and the elegance from the build to the atmosphere... when you are there time suspends its flight and you leave in perfect harmony with the place and people around.

Favorite SL Store(s): OMG... pity not that question !! How many can I list ? loolOk so let's try to sellect... Son!a, Phoenix Rising, Ce_Cubic Effect for clothing, Alienbear Design for jewellery, Stiletto Moody and BAX for shoes, Bishwear and RQ for hairs and... and... Oh ! I have to stop ? erfff... :D

Why: All those who have been in those stores perfectly know why... The quality of the design, the purety of the textures, the performance of the scripts, in one word... Excellence.

Favorite SL Designer(s): humpffff.. isnt it the same question ?! *starts crying*Actually, I have a crush on Mimikri Kit, Designer of Mimikri hot couture.

Why: I love the clothes and accessories from her, all there is really cute and original, and other thing very appreciable are her prices more than accessible for these quality of work and in these time of crisis ! lool

SuperELITE Encounters

by Tiara Calvert

In the second installment of a 3 part series we take a closer look at those guest speakers that helped mold the SuperElite Models of today. Some of these graduates have already moved on to great success including but not limited to involvement in the upcoming Mr. Virtual World title. Mimmi Boa’s class and graduation shows are the very best that can be found in SL and the success of the students prove time and time again that her skill and insights as well as those of the guest speakers who share their experiences make a real difference when listened too.

Today we focus on the visit of Sharron Schuman. Sharron is not only one of SL fashions most successful, sought after and talented Models but as of this writing she has expanded her success to include not only Modeling, photography, and magazine writer but she was recently announced as the COO of AVENUE Model Agency. Everyone here would like to congratulate her on her new position and wish her continued success.

Sharron Schuman

It’s no surprise to learn that only the most well known and respected speakers will be arriving to speak at Miss Virtual World, Mimmi Boa’s Elite level class. But even when you are aware that you are in for a treat - nothing quite hits you as when these titans of SL fashion arrive in class.

Sharron Schuman came prepared, and with an excitement and enthusiasm that is no doubt part of the reason she has - in the year or so since she began to take an interest in modeling, propelled herself into the stratosphere of industry. Her out going, unabashed style makes her ever present at the most exclusive parties where her well known work as a society reporter and flickr paparazzi have helped set her apart from others who just take a backseat interest in the industry as a whole.

Her profile says it all; she describes herself as “Photographer, Model, Technogeekette, and Dilettante.” Needless to say the students were in for a real treat and just as she does on countless runways, magazine spreads, photo spreads, and articles, Sharron Schuman did not disappoint.

The first questions posed to her surrounded what she looks for when photographing models, what makes her want to focus her lens on a model and perhaps capture them for a spot on her very high profile flickr page.

“I am sure you all know that it takes much more than looks, because it’s easy to buy looks.
You all have seen lots of girls that are pretty and seen a lot that look almost the same.
There is a Redgrave look, a Belleza look, a Minnu look. What makes the difference is the detail. What you have put into your face to make it special.”

Recounting her own humble beginnings she said she often fell into the trap of making herself too perfect, simply because of how simple it is to do in SL. She credited her finally finding her look, with advice taken from Modavia Founder Dea Mills and with help from a couple of her fellow Modavia Supermodel colleagues.

She expressed the importance of personal style a point the students had by now heard many times repeated as essential to success by Mimmi Boa herself. Sharron noted that there are models she knows who, regardless of the skin they are in, she can be immediately recognized from the distinct personal style they have developed and exhibit.

Some of the students understandably wanted to learn how Sharron has become the incredible success she has and in typical Sharron fashion she didn’t hold back. Mixing both the fundamental important realities with a sense of humor.

“I have been an actress in RL and a dancer. Ballet tap, jazz. Etc. One of the clichés in acting class is from an old actor that at one time was a super star, Spencer Tracey.
He was asked once - what was the key to being successful as and actor, his answer was…
"Learn your lines".

The importance of knowing your craft, of being prepared at any time to act and fill in if needed in a professional manner Sharron relayed, was no only helpful to her success but was something that models must be able to do if they also hope to succeed. In fact this Supermodel was quick to point out that these traits were more important then looks in the field. She stressed the importance of retaining a professional attitude and demeanor at all times. Recounting stories of shows where two or more models might squabble about who got to wear what, or feel that another model was stealing her “look”.

“It is very important to a modeling career to remain as drama free as possible.”

She wasn’t shy about some of the lesser glamorous but equally real aspects of the Model industry as she saw them. Continuing with what she feels helped make her a success,

“The second part of my answer that really helped me and is truly one of the keys to success here in SL fashion is your network and your friends. I went to as many shows as I could, I still do, parties, LOL. Most jobs in SL fashion are not because you submitted an application it is because of your friends.”

She continued as the students asked questions and shared some of their own thoughts on the importance of good networking skills.

“Contests and casting in SL is not always fair. There are going to be times when you feel like you got "screwed". Being a good loser is very important, because the best doesn't always win or get chosen. I didn't get cast for a big show at BOSL Blvd but and hour before the show I got an IM asking if I could substitute. So to condense it all down. Be ready, be professional, know your skills and show up on time!”

Sharron was also willing to share her experiences with Agencies, schools and model training in SL. Commenting on the importance of good training that was essential to her success. One course in particular which she attended and graduated from was 3 months long. It wasn’t a surprise to hear not all of those who signed up graduated, but Sharron did and the experience and opportunities it provided her on the runway have proven to be worth every day of class time spent. When asked out of all the current fashion related work she does, which is her favorite, her response was immediate.

“For right now it would be Runway work, it is exciting. And as I said earlier in RL I have been a performer. It takes more out of me getting ready for shows. It is my passion at the moment. I make more lindens from photography but the shows inspire more passion in me.”

When asked to comment on other important realities of modeling Sharron was helpful in making mention that to be good at modeling means having the proper skill sets as well as the proper tools.

“Having the computer hardware to deal with laggy situations, if you don't have a good computer you can’t do it.”

She shared an experience of knowing a very good model that unfortunately due to poor internet connection simply could not do the shows.

She continued to share a wealth of experiences and information that only a model of her immense success and talent could share. From the creative passion she finds in styling her outfits for shows to the various scenarios a model will find themselves in when at a photo shoot. Whether working alone or in a double shoot the different styles of some of the biggest names in the fashion industry and how they vary in conducting a shoot. All aspects of modeling anyone hoping to achieve Supermodel status will have to be prepared and skilled in, in order to work at the levels of a Sharron Schuman.

Last but not least Sharron shared some of what she considered to be very strong feelings on the production of a modeling portfolio.

“I have strong opinions lol.”

“What is best in a portfolio is the same in SL as in rl. It is not the time for high art in the photograph. You want minimally processed photos; the photos are about you, not the photog. There is a place for art photog but not as what you submit. Some people will ask for in world snaps only, no textures. They want to see you as you are seen in world. Unless you are specificly asked for more.”

Sharron’s impact on the class and myself was one of the most enjoyable and instructive sessions I had the pleasure to witness. She is without a question a force in the Fashion world, successful and sought after. But her level headed outlook and incredible sense of humor, which tinged all of her points throughout the class, were obvious and uplifting to everyone lucky enough to be present to learn from her.

It would take several blogs to capture all the points she and Mimmi Boa brought to those in the room that day and these are just a snippet. There is zero question that as these students walked the runway for that graduation show, sporting the designs of some of SL’s top designers, they were ready. And there is no doubt that this was in part due to the shared experiences and caring shared knowledge that Sharron Schuman brought to the class of her friend Mimmi Boa’s Elite level training course!

Latex Lucy...mmmm

I know it has been awhile since I posted any fashion here for you all! I apoligize for that. But I have soemthing very nice for you, my friends! Not too long ago, I was very kindly asked to take a look at some items from a store called Eternity Brides and Seldom Blue. This is a collaborative store between IndigoBlue Dagostino and SingSong Writer. They sent me a note card with a picture of some very hot latex! I really liked the pictures, so I just had to go take a look at it. I went to the store, and saw lots of great stuff! Lingerie, latex, silks, and more.

This picture contains a set called Latex Lucy. I am showing you Magenta & Jet Black. There are a total of 12 colors available. I really enjoy the 100% hand painted textures used on this outfit! It looks so shiny, and you get each layer in an opaque or a sheer. You can be as sexy as you want. The fat pack includes a basque, bra, thong, shorts, tutu, trousers, leggings, and a special bonus full length non-flexi prim skirt! Each item of clothing is available in every layer possible, so you can always find the right combination. Of course, you do not have to buy a fat pack! You can also buy the pieces separately. Included with the fatpack is a nice note card thanking you for your purchase, and explaining a few things about the outfit. I really like it when a designer takes the time to inform you of the best way to get the most out of your new items.

You'll Be In Pose Paradise

If you haven't tried this fantastic product, you owe it to yourself to check it out. Of all the stands I have bought, tried and used in my time in SL, this one is my favorite. I find it quite versatile, easy to understand and very simple to use. I didn't know it at the time of purchase, it's also upgradeable. With a click of the update checker, an improved version was delivered to me upon it's release. Now, that's customer service! I've loaded nearly 400 poses into it without a problem, it appears to have an insatiable appetite! At only L$600, I think it's a steal.
Don't take my word for it, Google "Tillie's Posing Stand" and read the numerous reviews. Then TP to her store and try it before you buy it. Kylie Balogh

SuperELITE Model of the Week: Amput Bebb

Name: Amput Bebb

SL Rez Day: 8/29/2007

Nickname/Name you liked to be called: Ampy

Interests/Activities: Modeling for sure. But Organising and Networking is a close second. Oh oh oh and yes shopping definitely! I love to shop.. I also like to be with my good friends in SL too, make new friends and exploring SL.

Your major influence(s) in Business: All the successful people in SL and in RL. I am envious (in a good way of course) of their success and want to know how they do it so that I could be one.

Your major influence(s) in Life: This is another toughie question.. who made this question up? LOL. Well LIFE on its own is hard as it is and too broad a definition, so I believe in making the best of it and learn from our past experience and mistakes to be a better person. I always strive to be the best that I can so here is a couple of mantras I like to call my guidelines to life:

- Thinking for an hour is worth working for a day.

- Make each day as if youre going to die tomorrow.

- Nothing is impossible whan you strive for it.

- Live life to the fullest, Life is short and valuable.

- You are who your friends are.

- The one who takes your hand but touches your heart is a true friend.

- We seldom think of what we have, but always think of what we miss.

- Don't cry because it's all over now, laugh because it happened.

- The more precisely you plan, the harder destiny will hit you.

- What happens, happens for a reason.

- Don't make an effort because the best things happen when you least expect them.

- The greatest events aren't the loudest, but the most quiet hours.

- The most difficult lesson to learn is: which bridge in life to use or which one to break off.

- Everybody see how you seem, but only some knows who you are.

- Those who would like to have something they never had will have to so something well that they haven't done yet.

- Plan for tomorrow, but live for today.

- Love doesn't require two people look at each other, but they look together in the same direction - Antoine De Saint Exupery.

- Life is drawing without an eraser.

- Perhaps God would want you to become acquainted with many different people in the course of your life, so that when you meet the right ones, you can appreciate and be greatful for them.

- Appreciate life as it is, the air that we breathe, the fire to warm us, the water to drink and the earth to live in.

Best SL Experience(s): Currently? Graduated from SE to be a fully fleged Model in SL. I love the feeling of being nervous before the show but as I walk and strut on the runways amongst the captive audience, the experience is overwhelming! Previously? To be in love.

Worst SL Experience(s): Breaking up in a relationship. It hurts like hell! (can I say that?) *giggles*. 2nd most hurting experience? To get cut for a model show which I couldn't wake up at 3am my time for an important practice. But I have overcomed and immune to that awful feeling now. Sometimes in modeling, you just have to say no...sometimes.

Favorite SL Hangout(s): Koncept Chocolate Club.

Why: Meeting my close friends there and have a good time chatting away and making good fun of each other from the hussle and bussle of RL & SL.

Favorite SL Store(s): Any SL stores that sells Clothings, Shoes, jewelry and skins.

Why: I love to shop and always can't wait for new designs and all.

Favorite SL Designer(s): Gosh... I swear this is also another hard question to answer. There is just too many lol (also trying to avoid trouble). But right on top of my mind is Azul by Mami Jewel, Alateil by Alateil Malies, Alienbear by AlienBear Gupte, Stiletto Moody by Stiletto Moody, Digit Darkes by Digit Darkes and Haute Couture by Moxie Plano.

Why: They make absolutely lovely clothes and shoes, design-wise it's totally divine, intricate detailings and flow. The designers are just simply wonderful people, kind and sweet & good friends.
